PRIVACY NOTICE

Mayo Dental Clinic
Last updated: September 2026

Mayo Dental Clinic is a dental practice located in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, and welcomes patients from the United States. This Privacy Notice explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights available to you as a patient, including patients residing in the United States.

Governing law: Because Mayo Dental Clinic operates and provides dental services in Mexico, the collection and use of your personal information is governed primarily by Mexican federal law — the Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares). We are not a “covered entity” under the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); however, we apply comparable confidentiality and security standards to protect your health information, and we describe below the privacy rights and protections we extend to U.S. patients, including specific rights for California residents.

1. Who we are

José Jesús Mayoral Amador, doing business as Mayo Dental Clinic, is the data controller responsible for your personal information. Our clinic is located at Calle F 134-2, Segunda, C.P. 21100, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.

2. Personal information we collect

  • Identification and contact information: full name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth.
  • Billing information: tax/payment details and payment method.
  • Payment information: details related to paying for services (cash, bank transfer, card, or other electronic means).
  • Health information (sensitive personal data): your dental and medical history, diagnoses, treatments, X-rays, lab results, allergies, medications, and any other information about your oral and general health needed to provide care.

Health information is treated as sensitive personal data. We ask for your express consent before collecting or using it, which you provide by accepting this Notice, completing our patient intake form, or signing a consent form at the clinic.
Patients who are minors
If the patient is a minor, personal information is collected and used with the consent of the accompanying parent or legal guardian, who must confirm their authority to consent on the minor’s behalf. This Notice is provided to that responsible adult, who agrees to the treatment of the minor’s personal and health information for the purposes described here.

3. How we use your information
Primary purposes (necessary to provide dental care)

  • Scheduling, confirming, and managing appointments.
  • Creating and maintaining your clinical/dental record.
  • Diagnosing, planning, and following up on dental treatment.
  • Billing and collecting payment for services rendered, including cash, electronic transfer, and other payment methods.
  • Complying with legal, tax, and health-regulatory obligations applicable to our practice in Mexico.
Secondary purposes (not required to provide care)
The following uses are not necessary for your treatment, but help us serve you better:
  • Sending appointment reminders by WhatsApp, text message, email, or phone call.
  • Marketing, promotions, and information about clinic services.
  • Patient satisfaction and quality-of-service surveys.
If you do not want your information used for these secondary purposes, you may opt out at any time by emailing administracion@mayodentalclinic.com.mx. Declining these uses will never affect your access to dental care.

4. Who we share information with
We may share your personal information, including sensitive health information, with the following categories of recipients, as needed to provide your care:

  • Insurance companies, to process reimbursement claims or coverage under your dental or health insurance policy.
  • External dental laboratories, for the fabrication of crowns, prosthetics, guards, aligners, or other devices required for your treatment.
  • Outside specialists (for example, oral surgeons, orthodontists, or other health professionals), when a referral or second opinion is required.
  • Online scheduling and practice-management providers, who process data solely on our instructions to support appointment booking.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

5. Cross-border processing

Because our clinic is located in Mexico, personal information you provide — including through our website, by phone, or in person — is processed and stored in Mexico. By requesting our services or providing your information, U.S. patients acknowledge that their personal information will be transferred to and handled in Mexico, subject to Mexican data protection law.

6. Your privacy rights

Regardless of where you live, you may exercise the following rights over your personal information at any time:

  • Access — know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
  • Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your information from our records, where applicable.
  • Objection — object to a specific use of your information, such as marketing.

Additional notice for California residents

If you are a California resident, you may also expect the following rights, consistent with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as a matter of our own privacy practice: the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used; the right to request deletion of your personal information; the right to correct inaccurate information; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising); and the right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights. Because our clinic operates in Mexico, these rights are honored as a matter of practice and are not a representation that the CCPA applies to our operations as a matter of law.
To exercise any of the rights above, contact us at:administracion@mayodentalclinic.com.mx

Please include your full name, a copy of a government-issued ID, and a clear description of the information or request involved.

We will respond to your request within 20 business days of receipt and, where applicable, complete the request within 15 business days after we notify you of our decision.

7. Withdrawing your consent

You may withdraw any consent you previously gave for the use of your personal information at any time, using the contact information above. Please note that withdrawing consent for certain purposes may mean we are no longer able to provide the related service.

8. Cookies and website tracking

Our website, www.mayodentalclinic.com.mx, may use cookies and similar technologies to improve your browsing experience, remember your preferences, and generate usage statistics. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect how parts of the site function.

9. Data security

Mayo Dental Clinic has implemented administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information — especially sensitive health information — against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
10. Changes to this Notice
This Privacy Notice may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the law, our services, or our privacy practices. Any updates will be posted on this website and/or made available at our clinic.

11. Consent

By providing your personal information — including sensitive health information — and/or using our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Privacy Notice, and you provide your express consent for the treatment of your personal information for the purposes described here.
